Ten Years of YOU and Dirty Pecan

 

As I reflect over the last nine Dirty Pecans, we all have moved the needle tremendously for the 4-H youth in our region.

 

Dirty Pecan monies have been used to send 4-H kids to overnight camp to 4-H Camp Cherry Lake.  During covid CCL was shut down; it never opened back up.  The 100 year old cabins needed to be replaced.  The whole facility needs updating.  I was on a tear to get Camp Cherry Lane back open; unacceptable our sister camp was down.

There are 3 4-H overnight camps in Florida;

Camp Tempuche in Niceville

Camp Clover Leaf in Polk County

Camp Cherry Lake in Madison - closed :-(

 

​Here is a tidy list of Dirty Pecan accomplishments made possible thru sponsorships, donations, sale of SWAG and registrations:

✅ In the last nine years, Dirty Pecan has donated approximately $170,000 to 4-H 🍀 – a premier leadership program for kids.

✅ Hundreds of Jefferson County 4-H kids have attended overnight 4-H camp via Dirty Pecan.

✅ Dirty Pecan donated $10,000, restricted to 4-H Camp Cherry Lake, to get the ball rolling to renovate the entire 12 acres of 4-H Camp Cherry Lake.
 

This energy brought about a $900,000 Florida Legislative Budget Request funding in 2024 for 4-H Camp Cherry Lake.  Carrying the weight was FL Representative Allison Tant and FL Senator Keith Perry.
